How to help your children get ready to read:
-
Come to the library for books about your children’s specific interests:
books about dogs or cats or trees or boats. Whatever your children are
interested in, those books, will keep their interest as you read to
them.
-
Help your children learn how to hold a book and turn the pages.
-
Tell stories together, encouraging pretend play. Let your children be
the story teller.
-
Sing songs, play games and share rhymes to help your children play with
the sounds of words.
-
Ask the staff at your local library to assist you in finding what you
need to help your children.
